Residential Wiring & Rewiring
Houston & South Texas

New construction wiring, room additions, and full rewires of knob-and-tube or aluminum wiring. Our electricians have years of experience with older housing stock and with new builds alongside general contractors.

Residential Wiring Services

🏠

Knob-and-Tube Rewiring

Pre-1950s homes in older neighborhoods sometimes still have knob-and-tube (K&T) wiring. We fully rewire homes with K&T, safely, efficiently, and with minimal wall damage using wire-fishing techniques.

⚡

Aluminum Wiring Remediation

Homes built 1965–1973 often have aluminum branch circuit wiring that poses a fire risk at connections. We install CO/ALR devices or full copper pigtail splices to bring your wiring to safe, code-compliant standards.

🏗️

New Construction Wiring

Full electrical rough-in and trim-out for new construction projects. We work directly with your general contractor, coordinate inspections, and ensure your home passes every stage of electrical inspection.

🔨

Room Additions & ADUs

Adding a bedroom, converting a garage, or building a casita? We handle the complete electrical scope, from panel circuit additions to outlet placement, lighting, and inspection sign-off.

🔌

Circuit Additions

Adding a dedicated 20A circuit for a home office, a kitchen appliance circuit, a laundry circuit, or any other dedicated load. Quick, tidy, and properly labeled in your panel.

🛁

Bathroom & Kitchen Electrical

GFCI outlet installation, exhaust fan wiring, vanity lighting, and appliance circuits. Every bathroom and kitchen circuit needs the right protection. We install it right the first time.

What Texas Homeowners Should Know

What Is Knob-and-Tube?

Knob-and-tube (K&T) is an early electrical wiring method used from roughly 1880 to 1950. Wires run through ceramic knobs and tubes, without a ground wire and with insulation that degrades over time. Some of the oldest homes in Houston's and the Valley's established neighborhoods still have some K&T remaining.

🔥

Why It's a Problem

K&T wiring has no ground, cannot support modern electrical loads, and becomes brittle with age. Attic insulation packed against K&T creates a fire risk. Many insurance companies now require K&T removal as a condition of coverage.

💸

Rewiring Cost & Timeline

A full rewire for a 1,200–2,000 sq ft older home typically runs $8,000–$18,000 and takes 3–5 days. We use wire-fishing techniques to minimize wall and ceiling damage. Most homeowners need very little drywall repair.

🏡

Partial vs Full Rewire

Not all old wiring needs to be replaced immediately. We help you prioritize. Kitchen and bathroom circuits are highest priority (moisture plus load), followed by bedroom circuits. We give you an honest assessment of what needs to go now versus what can wait.

How a Rewire Project Works

1

Electrical Assessment

Our licensed electrician inspects your attic, crawl space, and accessible wiring to map what you have. We identify K&T, aluminum wiring, and any immediate safety hazards, and provide a prioritized remediation plan with full pricing.

2

Permit Application

Rewiring projects require electrical permits. We handle the paperwork, submit drawings if required, and ensure the project scope is fully permitted before any work begins.

3

Rough-In Wiring

We run new circuits using modern Romex cable, fishing wires through walls where possible to minimize drywall cuts. Attic access dramatically reduces the invasiveness of most rewire projects in older homes.

4

Inspection & Trim-Out

The inspector signs off on rough wiring. Then we install all outlets, switches, light fixtures, and panel connections. A final inspection confirms everything is complete and code-compliant.

Residential Wiring FAQ

If your home was built before 1950, there is a chance some K&T remains. Check your attic. K&T looks like individual wires running through small ceramic cylinders (knobs) and tubes. It will not have plastic insulation covering it. The insulation is a cloth or rubber coating that often looks dark brown or black. When in doubt, we will inspect it for free during any service visit.
Not without removing or encapsulating the K&T first. The NEC prohibits blowing insulation over active K&T wiring because it causes overheating. Insulation contractors should flag this, but they sometimes do not. If you are planning attic insulation, have us inspect and remove any active K&T in the attic first.
Aluminum branch circuit wiring was used in homes built 1965–1973 as a cheaper alternative to copper. The problem is at connections. Aluminum expands and contracts more than copper with temperature changes, which loosens connections over time and creates resistance, arcing, and fire risk. It is most dangerous at outlets and switches. Our fix: install CO/ALR rated outlets and switches (which are designed for aluminum wiring), or do copper pigtail splices at each connection. Full replacement is not always necessary.
Yes. We are active on new construction and major remodel projects across Houston and South Texas. We provide rough-in wiring schedules compatible with your GC's timeline, coordinate directly with the framing and insulation crews, and handle all electrical inspections. We are available for both bid and negotiated projects.
